| A. If the sensor face is flush with a metal surface, it must be a shielded sensor to avoid sensing the mounting surface itself. Although unshielded models offer longer sensing distances, they can detect metals surrounding the barrel near the sensor face, resulting in false triggering of the output. Unshielded models must therefore be mounted per industry-standard guidelines as described in the C115 sensor catalog. |
| A. Rockwell Automation has not specifically tested these products for 24V DC applications, but Allen-Bradley controls are designed with high force snap action silver contacts. This provides exceptional contact fidelity at 24V DC I/O current levels. |
| A. Consider the correction factor tables in the C115 Sensors catalog. To ensure you get enough sensing range, divide the desired sensing distance by the correction factor shown for the target material. For example, if the customer wants to sense a stainless steel target at a 4mm distance, he needs to find a sensor with a sensing distance of at least 4mm/0.9, or 4.44mm. |
| A. Yes, the converter cable port is fully sealed and isolated. The cap protects the port pins and prevents any water or chemicals from settling in the port. |
| A. Glass fiber optic cables with stainless steel sheathing for applications requiring durability and for high temperature applications (standard: 260°C, custom: 482°C), Glass with PVC sheathing (-40°C to 93°C). Standard length is 36in. for glass cables. Custom lengths are available, as well as economical pre-terminated or pre-cut to length plastic fibers (-15°C to 70°C) for less demanding environments. There are over 100 sensing end tips to choose from to suit the application. |
| A. The sensor output has built in short circuit protection. Also a visual indication of short circuit condition is provided by flashing red LED. |
| A. The RightSight / 9000 Series contains reverse polarity protection that protects the sensor from any damage. |
| A. Maximum Radial Loads
Type 1/4/13 50 lbs
Type 7&9 20 lbs
Maximum Axial Loads
Type 1/4/13 20lbs
Type 7&9 20lbs |
| A. 212F
| A. For applications where harsh fluids or debris are in frequent contact with the sensor, the 871TM is recommended. For light- and moderate-duty industrial applications, the 872C WorldProx sensor is the best option. |
| A. 316L stainless steel and fluorinated elastomer seals. |
| A. Reflections from some (shrink/stretch wrapped or high reflectivity) objects can cause this problem. Skew the sensor into the target by 15° or use polarized retroreflective sense mode. |
